Villa Olímpica, a relatively new area of Barcelona, is the city’s largest construction project in the 20th century. The Olympic Village was built on the Mediterranean coast just outside Ciutadella Park on the site of an otherwise unattractive port area in preparation for the 1992 Summer Olympics.
District of Villa Olympic
One of the most attractive parts of Villa Olimpica is the Port Olímpic complex, where, in addition to several hundred yachts, popular restaurants, bars and clubs are concentrated. There is also the symbol of modern Barcelona – 2 towers: the Torre Mapfre office building and the luxurious Hotel Arts Barcelona, on the territory of which a giant statue of a fish sparkles.
The embankment in this area is very picturesque, planted with tall palm trees, an ideal place for walking and playing sports. The beaches are sandy and well maintained. The city center can be reached on foot in 20 minutes or by metro – in 10. There is a shopping center. As for real estate, the buildings here are of very high quality, no more than 5 floors high. The apartments are very bright, spacious and well-planned, which cannot but please Russian buyers who are accustomed to large bedrooms and spacious rooms. The area of Villa Olimpica is quite quiet, around a lot of greenery, squares planted with Mediterranean plants.
